Stowe Wrapped 2025!

This year maked a big step forward for the Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility. This is the first brand-new wastewater treatment plant that Charlotte Water has built since 1979.

We celebrated the opening of the Mount Holly Pump Station. We reached the halfway mark in construction at the Stowe Facility. We also worked closely with schools to help students learn about water, engineering, and public service.

What’s Inside:

Industry Recognition
Last year, the Stowe Project received recognition at both the state and national levels.

Our team presented project insights at the NC One Water Spring Conference, focusing on how North Carolina manages and protects its water resources.

At the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), the largest water quality event in North America, the team shared lessons through a presentation about elevating operator input.

Engineering News-Record also featured the project, highlighting the innovative use of horizontal directional drilling.

Construction Highlights
2025 brought big achievements for our projects! The Stowe Project is so much more than just a treatment plant. Our teams have been working hard to make this regional plan for wastewater a reality.

Did you know that oxygen can mix into water just like salt or sugar? Learn how we mix oxygen back into the treated water with the cascade aerator.

Community Connections
Every year, we work to build strong connections between the Stowe Project and the communities it supports. In 2025, our teams spent time with many schools and industry groups. We are excited to continue building long-lasting partnerships with our neighbors at Whitewater Middle School and with future leaders at UNC Charlotte (UNCC).

Looking Ahead
This year will be an exciting time for the project. We plan to begin testing parts of the Stowe Facility using clean water and continue work on pipelines and pump stations.
