The Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility is “Transforming Wastewater in North Carolina” as recently featured in the December 11-18 issue of the engineering industry’s biggest publication, Engineering News-Record. Charlotte Water’s Engineering Division Manager and Stowe Project Manager Nicole Bartlett provided insights about the challenges of taking on the largest project in company history, offered advice to other owner’s embarking on similar regional projects, and demonstrated the value of the project’s robust public communication efforts in addressing public concerns and involving the community. Deputy Director of Charlotte Water Ron Hargrove discussed the unique contracting approach selected for Stowe, which consists of a progressive design-build with an Owner’s Advisor to provide the support and flexibility needed to deliver a project of this scale.
