The Stowe Community Benefit Project was highlighted in the Hearts & Minds section of Treatment Plant Operator’s November issue. The article “A Lesson in Plant Building: Involve the Community” also appeared in the print issue under the title “More than Groundbreaking.” The trade publication learned about our engagement with the Stowe Facility’s neighbor Whitewater Middle School as part of our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education program. This program was identified as one of five components of the Stowe Community Benefit Project, which also includes an educational walking trail connecting to the school, a multi-use path along the new entrance road, a public meeting space in the new Administration Building, and a partnership with Catawba Lands Conservancy to identify and develop future trail connections.
